Market Sessions: Camus | The Big Read In
Saturday 22 August 2026
10:00 to 13:30
Particle and St Neots Folk Club have teamed up to bring you Camus — a traditional folk band, named after a village in County Galway. The band features Greg Smith (fiddle, viola), Edric Ellis (Northumbrian smallpipes, border pipes), Andrew Burn (melodeons, vocals, Northumbrian small pipes), Brian Cleary (guitar, vocals, bouzouki) and David Somerville (keyboard, Northumbrian small pipes). They play an exciting mix of traditions, with influences from Northumberland, Ireland and Shetland, a dash of bluegrass and Galician, and their own tunes and songs. They'll be performing at 11am and again at 12:15pm.
Join St Neots Library for The Big Read In — a community reading event to celebrate the joy of stories and get everyone reading for pleasure (yes even you adults). It's the National Year of Reading and we invite you to come take a seat in our cosy reading nook and listen to a story or two, or pick up a book in the company of others.
The Big Read In starts at 10am with professional storyteller Janina Vigurs, whose stories are silly, warm and quite ridiculous, abundant, joyful and infectious. She tells stories with children not to them, which is why she’s a regular storyteller at Glastonbury, has told extensively at Cambridge Folk Festival, has toured as the UK as Beatrix Potter for Penguin Random House, run birthday parties, performed at corporate events and has been a professional silly sausage for nearly 20 years. Janina is also the founder of Wonder Monger, a storytelling night for adults at Cambridge Junction.
